Summer Abu-Zahrah moved to San Diego from Michigan at 22 with little more than a mountain bike and a plan to make it work. She found Crown Point Coffee, picked up a job behind the counter, and fell for the tiny walk-up window on the bay.
By 27, she’d bought the shop herself — and over the years since has turned it into the bright, full-service café you see today: expanded seating, local beach art on the walls, and a menu built for everyone from bikers refueling mid-ride to kids stopping in after school.
